ARKEOCEAN, CMMI, LANEGO and SignalGeneriX to co-develop EONIOS, a fully autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) swarm system with AUV docking stations integrated in nature-based artificial reefs
On 17 June, Arkeocean, the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), Lanego and SignalGeneriX Ltd have signed a research and development agreement to co-develop a solution called EONIOS, a micro-AUV swarm system with AUV docking stations integrated in nature-based artificial reefs. The EONIOS system will explore and protect designated underwater areas including marine ecosystems and biodiversity. The agreement was signed at EUROSATORY in Paris, during a ceremony at the Cyprus Pavilion, in the presence of government officials representing both France and Cyprus This agreement follows the recent signature of a two-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the same parties to establish cooperation in marine and maritime research and innovation and to cultivate proficiency and knowledge in the marine and maritime sectors.
Since 2009, Arkeocean has been imagining and delivering disruptive solutions for
underwater exploration. ARKEOCEAN specializesin affordable swarm systems made of micro AUVs used for observation missions in the fields of energy, defence and the environment. CMMI was established in April 2019, with EU and national funding, as a Centre of Excellence in research, technology development and innovation. CMMI has nine research and innovation centres that are involved in marine technology, marine robotics, maritime digitalisation, marine observation, marine and coastal ecosystems, marine biotechnology and aquaculture, the maritime human element, marine cultural heritage, marine and maritime policies and regional cooperation. SignalGeneriX demonstrates 20 years of established experience in defence signal processing and communications with focus on the design and manufacturing of innovative electronic warfare and autonomous systems electronics. The company is acknowledged with numerous
international innovation awards and is ranked as the top European SME in EDIDP defence research & development contracts participation.
